CAF and the Caribbean

CAF established a Regional Office for the Caribbean to provide development assistance to Caribbean countries as well as strengthen coordination with regional integration mechanisms, notably the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and others.

New Business Hub in T&T

CAF has two business hubs, one in Panama and another in Uruguay. The hub in T&T will house CAF’s technical teams for:

  • Climate change
  • Energy efficiency
  • Natural disaster prevention and mitigation
  • Financial Services

    • Improve transmission and distribution systems
    • Increase in generation capacity
    • Energy efficiency programs
    • Support for isolated areas
    • Develop a new hydrogen energy vector
    • Reduction of methane emissions

    Activities for disaster risk reduction

    • Promote the construction, expansion and rehabilitation of hydraulic infrastructure, both traditional and nature-based solutions
    • Support the development of early warning systems
    • Promote the development of national strategies to strengthen national and local coordination and public awareness on disaster risk reduction, especially droughts and floods
    • Contribute to identifying flood zones
    • Promote the use of geo-spatial information
