CAF Diploma Course on PPP for Latin American Public Officials (3 edition)

About the Course

The course will present practical concepts and references that will delve into such priority issues, analyzing the most problematic aspects, examples and lessons learned from Latin America, as well as international best practices  with a team of teachers, including former ministers, deputy ministers and directors of public works, transport and infrastructure departments, as well as university professors and regional PPP experts.

The courseis structured in a short introductory module and 6 main modules, each focusing on a key and critical area of each phase of an PPP project.

Additionally, this third edition incorporates topics related to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the new scenarios in terms of the fiscal situation and financial market uncertainty.

Who is it intended for?

Public officials in Latin America who have or expect to have professional contact with PPPs in the near future To fully benefit from the course, it is recommended that the public official have a minimum knowledge and experience on PPPs, since the course does not start from scratch, but seeks to improve basic knowledge related to each phase of a project.

Method

The online course will be supported by specialized tutors and specialized, through the learning platform Canvas, which will remain open 24/7 to allow participants to study at their own pace.

Requirements to participate

Applicants must:

• Be public officialsin Latin America
• Master the Spanish language
• Hold a degree accredited by a higher education institution at the time of application (their degree must have already been awarded).
• Have at least 5 years of work experience
• Have at least 2 years of experience in public investment and/or PPP
• Have basic knowledge of Excel

Applications must be issued in compliance with the requirements by March 22, 2021. No further nominations will be accepted after that date. 

Cost

The fee for the course is $1,800 USD per student. CAF subsidizes 90% of the fee ($1,620), so the participant only needs to pay $180USD, if the payment receipt is sent by April 10.

Student who make the payment between April 10 and April 16, will receive a CAF subsidy of 87% of the cost ($1,570 USD), leaving the participant with a fee of $230 USD.

Certificate

Participants who exceed the activities proposed in the course will receive a final certificate issued by CAF, proving their participation and improvement. The certificate will be issued electronically (digital,secure, portable and shareable). 

Application and selection

1. Participants who meet the requirements must fill out the application form at the bottom of the page.
2. CAF will validate and select participants based on their profile and experience in terms of public investment projects and/or Public - Private Partnerships.
3. The selected participants must confirm their participation by providing proof of entry payment. Participants who are not selected for this edition will be inscribed in an invitation list for the 2022 edition.
4. Payment must be made between March and early April.
5. Once the payment is confirmed, the access information will be sent to the course.
