Research Projects - Intergenerational Mobility in Latin America

December 28, 2020 to February 21, 2021
Intergenerational Mobility in Latin America

Through this call we seek to finance up to three research projects that help to understand the patterns of intergenerational social mobility in Latin America, as well as the mechanisms and policies that favor or hinder it.

CAF is pleased to announce the results of the call for research proposals on "Intergenerational Mobility in Latin America". We received 216 proposals, including numerous high-quality promising projects by talented research teams. After a careful assessment of every proposal following the selection criteria described in the call, the selection committee selected the following three proposals (listed without a particular order):

  • Teen pregnancy in Latin America: the mother-daughter link, by Matilde Machado, Ricardo Mora and Karen Oliva.
  • Patterns of Educational Mobility Across Three Generations in Latin America, by Pablo Celhay and Sebastian Gallegos.
  • Movilidad intergeneracional de ingresos y su relación con eventos macroeconómicos adversos: aproximaciones a partir de registros administrativos para Uruguay, by Martin Leites, Joan Vilá, Xavier Ramos and Sofia Santín
