Policy Dialogues for Post-pandemic Recovery
As part of the Policy Dialogues for the Post-pandemic Recovery cycle, CAF is organizing the online “state capacity building” event, which will feature high-ranking government authorities and experts from the region.
Event date:
September 01, 2021
Latin America has been one of the regions in the world where the COVID-19 pandemic has had the greatest impact in both economic and social terms. The post-pandemic recovery will require policies that promote productivity and formal employment, strengthening social protection systems, reactivating public and private investment in socio-economic infrastructure, all in a context that requires the achievement of medium-term fiscal consolidation to stabilize public debt levels.
These tasks require state capacities allowing for greater levels of efficiency and transparency in the management of services and in the execution of investment projects. Among the dimensions in which states must work to achieve these objectives, the simplification and digitalization of the procedures required to access public services stand out. The governance of infrastructure projects and investments, including infrastructure collaborations with the private sector (PPP); and opening up data on public action to improve accountability also come to the fore.
This seminar will discuss these issues based on the presentation of a series of works carried out by CAF experts, and a dialogue will be proposed with senior public officials to discuss the challenges of designing and implementing public policies in these areas.
Date: Wednesday, September 1, 2021
Time: 11:00 a.m. (Venezuela time)
