Beijing +30: The Contribution of National Women's Machineries and the Rural Women's Agenda
As part of the Beijing +30 anniversary, this event will bring together regional women leaders to reflect on the role of National Women's Machineries, the progress achieved, and ways to strengthen the rural women's rights agenda in the Americas.

In the context of the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action, the Ministry of Women of Panama, the Inter-American Commission of Women/OAS, CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, UN Women, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and Inclusive Societies (Global Gateway), with the co-organization of the Permanent Mission of Panama to the United Nations, invite you to this in-person panel with live streaming.
The event will address the progress of National Women's Machineries in promoting public policies for gender equality and the challenges that remain, with a special focus on the rights of rural women, recognizing their diversity and leadership in the sustainable development of the region.
The panel will feature two high-level discussion sessions, where ministers, experts, and representatives of international organizations will share experiences, lessons learned, and proposals to strengthen gender institutions and guarantee the rights of all women and girls in rural areas.

Antonia Orellana is the minister of Women and Gender Equity for Chile. She is a journalist specializing in media management. She has dedicated much of her career to supporting the establishment and dissemination of social and political organizations in Chile, demonstrating an outstanding commitment to the feminist movement both in Chile and Latin America. She was a member of the Escuela de Comunicación Popular 2012- 2015, and from then until 2020, she was an associate member of Red Chilena contra la Violencia hacia las Mujeres (Chilean Network against Violence towards Women) in the Metropolitan Region. Orellana earned her journalism degree from the Universidad de Chile’s Instituto de la Comunicación e Imagen.
