Mexico leads the demand for on line trade and banking services
The country stands out in the region for having the highest use indices of fixed broadband due to its low price and accessibility
In Latin America, Mexico is the first exporter of ICT goods, and stands out for having one of the highest indices of use of fixed broadband in the region, due to low prices and higher service accessibility.
Despite the fact that the volume of internet users is below the average of the region, and the rate of accessibility to banking services of the population is not high when compared with other countries, Mexico leads in the demand for online trading and banking services through mobile terminals.
The degree of development of online government is one of the highest in the region, although it has lost the leadership it had in previous years.
With respect to the basic indicators of development and penetration of ICT services, they are lower than those of countries with similar development, and the prices are higher according to the CAF's study, "Hacia la Digitalización de América Latina: las infraestructuras y los servicios TIC en la región" (Towards the Digitalization of Latin America: Infrastructure and ICT services in the region).
The good development of IT regulations and the correct implementation of e-Government are some of the sector's strengths in Mexico.
The Sistema Nacional e-Mexico (National e-Mexico System), and recently, the Pacto por Mexico ((Pact for Mexico) intend to recover the pace in the development of ICT through the development of a strong fiber optic trunk network, access to basic digital services in education, health, economics, and citizenship, and the promotion of competition in the telecommunications sector.
