CAF presents the Technological Patents for Development Regional Initiative to Universities and Innovation Institutes in Venezuela
CAF's patents initiative is a complementary proposal to the countries' science, technology, and innovation programs.
On October 8th, CAF presented the Technological Patents Regional Initiative to the main universities and institutes in the country that work or are related to the subject of innovation.
During the meeting, the status of technological innovation was presented for the different countries of Latin America. The conclusion of the meeting was that Latin America must diversify its innovation strategy, that it must not depend solely on scientific research, and it should educate the population on the conceptualization of patentable innovative technologies with a commercial focus. No academic degree is required for this, but rather entrepreneurial creativity.
In this context, CAF's support was explained. It seeks to rapidly improve technological development in Latin America in order to increase high technology exports in the long term.
The participants explained the concept of technological patents, and the status of technological innovation in the different countries of Latin America, which have not shown significant advances in past years. The causes for this situation were explained, and the conclusion was that Latin America must diversify its innovation strategy.
This event included the participation of Luis Enrique Berrizbeitia, CAF's Executive Vice President, who lead the inauguration, Álvaro Atilano, Main Executive of the Energy Vice Presidency, who was one of the speakers, and more than 45 representatives of the main universities and innovation institutes in the country.

The Annual CAF Conference will center on security in the Americas
Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the OAS, Rebecca BillChavez, President & CEO of the Inter-American Dialogue, and Sergio Díaz-Granados, Executive President of CAF, announced that the upcoming CAF Conference, set for September 5 in Washington DC, will specifically address security issues in Latin America and the Caribbean. Additionally, a preparatory event is scheduled during the OAS General Assembly from June 26 to 28, 2024, in Paraguay.
