The executive president of CAF-development bank of Latin America, Luis Carranza; the Transportation and Telecommunications Minister, Gloria Hutt Hes; and the Public Works Minister, Juan Andrés Fontaine, reiterated the parties’ commitment to implement the “Regional Infrastructure Pre-investment Program” in Chile, aimed at financing support tasks pertaining to the pre-investment design, drafting and analysis of integration infrastructure projects in the transportation, logistics, telecommunications and energy sectors.

They agreed to organize round tables with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and with the Ministry of Public Works to identify eligible projects for CAF’s “Regional Infrastructure Pre-investment Program” in priority areas for Chile.

“This program aims to improve the quality and availability of infrastructure projects, particularly in projects within the framework of public-private partnerships (PPP), in order to promote Chile’s competitive international insertion and improve productivity and competitiveness by financing infrastructure works,” said CAF’s executive president, Luis Carranza.

During his official visit to Chile, Carranza also met with the Housing and Urban Development Minister, Cristian Monckeberg, in order to cooperate and share knowledge related to effective housing policies in the region and applicable in the case of Chile. These experiences will be channeled through a national workshop on housing policies.

Through its “Cities with a Future” initiative, CAF facilitates knowledge on best practices in the region to create increasingly inclusive, connected and spatially, economically and socially integrated cities, with universal access to housing and basic services and all the opportunities the city has to offer.

Within the goal of contributing to the country’s development, the executive president also held meetings with Maya Fernández Allende, President of Chile’s Chamber of Deputies, as well as with Juan Pablo Letelier and Pablo Lorenzini Basso, chairmen of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies’ Finance Committees, respectively.
