CAF is firmly committed to Brazil’s success at COP30 and is working to position Latin America and the Caribbean as a proactive bloc in the global climate and biodiversity agenda. Our participation in strategic international events in 2025 and in previous years reflects our commitment to building a bridge between COP16 in Cali and Belém, strengthening the region’s voice in multilateral spaces.

This effort translates into partnerships, financing, and innovation aimed at consolidating CAF as the Green Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, while supporting member countries in developing sustainable, high-impact solutions on the road to Belém 2025.

Climate Week and Nature Summit | Panama, May 2025

 

As part of the road to COP30, CAF played a prominent role during Panama Climate Week, supporting the Ministry of Environment with a USD 25,000 contribution to host the Nature Summit. The event brought together more than 100 global leaders committed to strengthening nature-based economies and aligning regional actions with the goals of the three Rio Conventions. CAF participated in high-level segments and held bilateral meetings with key stakeholders, including representatives from the United Nations and the Federative Republic of Brazil, reaffirming its commitment to an ambitious, coordinated climate agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Mutis Biodiversity Dialogues | Spain, June 2025

 

CAF led the Mutis Biodiversity Dialogues: Latin America and the Caribbean – Spain, an international cooperation platform that convened governments, the private sector, and multilateral organizations to strengthen the conservation agenda. With an investment of USD 320,000, CAF organized three technical sessions on science, finance, and innovation, and coordinated a field visit and exchange activities that fostered new partnerships, with 46 regional representatives and strategic allies, including Brazil’s Ministry of Science.

UN Ocean Conference – UNOC3 and Blue Economy & Finance Forum | France, June 2025

 

CAF had a strong presence at the UN Ocean Conference and the Blue Economy & Finance Forum, reaffirming its leadership in promoting a sustainable blue economy. With a USD 128,000 contribution, CAF supported the Costa Rica Pavilion and strategic activities throughout both events. During the conference, CAF announced the early achievement of its 2022–2026 climate finance target, mobilizing over USD 1.3 billion, and launched its first EUR 100 million blue bond to promote sustainable coastal development. CAF also presented its Blue Economy Strategy and joined over 12 official sessions with representatives from Colombia, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Mexico.

 

International Conference on Financing for Development – FfD4 | Spain, June–July 2025

 

CAF played a key role at FfD4, participating in more than 40 events focused on advancing financial solutions for sustainable development. The institution promoted innovation in green finance instruments, social inclusion, and a just energy transition, while reinforcing the role of multilateral development banks in implementing the SDGs. CAF joined global coalitions such as Beyond GDP and the Build Support for Global Public Investment Coalition, and presented mechanisms such as debt-for-nature swaps, green bonds, and blended finance to reduce costs, strengthen local capacities, and foster sustainable investments adapted to national contexts.

 

LAC Ministerial Meeting on Regional Climate Action | Mexico, August 2025

 

CAF actively participated in the Latin America and the Caribbean Ministerial Meeting on Regional Climate Action, a key platform to strengthen the region’s joint position in the UNFCCC and Paris Agreement processes. With a USD 12,000 contribution, CAF supported the organization of the meeting and joined the ministerial panel on climate finance, promoting innovation and equitable access to resources to support countries’ sustainable transitions.

International Summit on Innovation and Environmental Sustainability | Colombia, September 2025

 

CAF joined as a co-organizer of the International Summit on Innovation and Environmental Sustainability, bringing together regional leaders to advance sustainable solutions and ecological restoration. CAF organized a high-level panel on restoration and agroecology with ministers of agriculture from across the region. In addition to a USD 5,000 contribution, the institution participated in the official launch and will take part in the summit’s opening session.

New York Climate Week | United States, September 2025

 

CAF participated actively in New York Climate Week, joining high-level segments and side events organized by the UNCCD, UNDP, Concordia, and other global platforms. CAF signed an MoU with the Rockefeller Foundation and explored a partnership with the UNFCCC. With a USD 20,000 contribution, CAF co-organized an event at the UN General Assembly to launch guidance for aligning national coffee sector plans with the SDGs, promoting more inclusive and sustainable rural economies.

RedLAC Congress | Chile, September–October 2025

 

CAF reinforced its commitment to biodiversity conservation by expanding its partnership with Fondo Naturaleza Chile through an agreement for the Pitipalena-Añihué Marine Protected Area and an MoU to broaden cooperation across strategic ecosystems in the Southeast Pacific. CAF approved USD 300,000 in technical cooperation to support the 2025 RedLAC Congress, funding event organization and participation of high-level panelists. During the event, CAF played a leading role in discussions on natural capital, nature-positive investments, financial innovation, community-based conservation, and the use of artificial intelligence for biodiversity.

IV CELAC–EU Summit | Santa Marta, November 2025

 

CAF co-organized the Business Forum held alongside the IV CELAC–EU Summit, which convened 400 business leaders and government authorities from both regions to discuss the role of the private sector in a fair and green transition, energy integration, sustainable trade, and the blue economy. CAF supported the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in producing documents and coordinating bi-regional dialogue spaces. The participation of CAF, IDB, EIB, the European Commission, the European Council, heads of government, and CEOs committed to a more inclusive and sustainable development agenda is expected.
