CAF -Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean- and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation have signed a new partnership agreement to boost sustainable development across the region. The agreement will prioritize key areas such as refugees and migration, global early childhood development, institutional capacity-building, and economic and social inclusion, among other mutually agreed initiatives.

Under this partnership, both institutions will explore joint projects, knowledge exchange, capacity-building programs, and pilot initiatives, including those supporting migrants and refugees in Ecuador and Colombia. Additionally, they will promote specialized training in institutional innovation and facilitate knowledge transfer to strengthen policymaking and social development.

Sergio Díaz-Granados, Executive President of CAF, emphasized the importance of this alliance: "This agreement with the Hilton Foundation reinforces our commitment to addressing critical challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly in human mobility and inclusive development. By combining our expertise and resources, we can create more opportunities for vulnerable populations while fostering sustainable growth across the region."

The collaboration aligns with CAF’s Strategic Framework on International Human Mobility, which adopts a comprehensive, multisectoral approach covering all migration phases—emigration, immigration, transit, and return. The strategy focuses on five key pillars: supporting national and subnational governments, improving access to essential services, strengthening data systems for informed policymaking, promoting migrant and host community integration, and creating economic opportunities for displaced populations.

“We are thrilled to partner with CAF to support the sustainable and inclusive development of migrant and host communities in Colombia and Ecuador,” said Peter Laugharn, President and CEO, Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. “This new collaboration seeks to leverage our institutions’ investments, including our direct funding to cities, to jointly improve the lives and livelihoods of migrant families and the communities hosting them.”

This partnership aligns with the Hilton Foundation’s Refugees Initiative, which advances the inclusion and integration of refugees and migrants into host communities, invests in children’s healthy development, and helps expand access to economic opportunities for parents and caregivers

Through this partnership, CAF and the Hilton Foundation reaffirm their shared vision of fostering equitable and sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean, tackling pressing issues such as migration while enhancing institutional resilience and social inclusion.
