The Board of Directors of CAF, Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, approved an A/B loan to Banco Guayaquil. CAF, as leader of the operation, will provide US$20 million, which will enable the mobilization of additional resources from other financial institutions in the region.
This operation is part of CAF's strategy to support the country's strategic sectors to generate employment and improve the quality of life of the population.
Sergio Díaz-Granados Guida, CAF Executive President.
These resources will be used to promote financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) led by women, as well as business programs for environmental sustainability in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, agriculture, construction, and sustainable industry, among others.
"There is strength in numbers. With this financing led by CAF and in which we will mobilize third-party capital, we expect to benefit 5,000 MSMEs with a greater supply of loans and terms that meet their needs. In this way we promote their competitiveness and the sustainable development of Ecuador," said CAF Executive President Sergio Diaz-Granados.
The A/B loan may be part of a co-financing with parallel loans, which will enable the delivery of credit to the MSME segment, which will be able to boost and increase their businesses through financing with appropriate conditions.
