From September 29 to October 1, CAF will participate in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, a global stage for innovation and multilateral dialogue that seeks to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Under the slogan “Latin America and the Caribbean: A Region of Solutions,” the institution will showcase how the region can make a decisive contribution to the world’s greatest challenges, in line with the purpose of Expo 2025: “Designing the Future Society for Our Lives.”
Expo 2025 Osaka, the second World Expo to be held in this city after the historic 1970 edition, runs from April 13 to October 13 and has already surpassed 20 million visitors since its opening. The event brings together more than 158 countries and regions, along with 7 international organizations, consolidating its position as one of the world’s leading platforms for innovative solutions.
Latin America and the Caribbean have unique assets to drive the transitions of the future: more than 60% of the world’s biodiversity, millennia-old cultural traditions, and a growing innovation ecosystem. These strengths make the region indispensable in areas such as energy transition, digital transformation, food security, and climate action. CAF will deliver a clear message in Japan: the region is not only one facing challenges, but also a source of solutions and global leadership.
CAF’s participation in Osaka reaffirms its commitment to building bridges with key players worldwide. In a hub of Asian and global convergence, the institution seeks to open new opportunities for investment, knowledge, and cooperation, strengthening the position of Latin America and the Caribbean in global governance.
To maximize its impact, CAF will deploy an integrated agenda in collaboration with several pavilions of Latin American and Caribbean countries:
-Brazil Pavilion: “Amazon: Living Heritage, Conservation for a Shared Future.” An immersive experience and presentation highlighting the vital role of the Amazon biome, aligned with the preparations for COP30.
-Colombia Pavilion: “Regional Coffees and Sustainability.” A dialogue with the National Federation of Coffee Growers and ProColombia on the future of sustainable coffee, featuring tastings of specialty coffees.
-Peru Pavilion: An audiovisual journey through the Amazon and the Andes that illustrates the country’s extraordinary natural diversity, including CAF’s BiodiverCiudades initiative, with projections highlighting its unique environmental richness.
-Portugal Pavilion: “Living Oceans: Cooperation for a Blue Future.” An exhibition on biregional cooperation in marine protection, coastal ecosystem management, and climate resilience.
-Spain Pavilion: “Spain and Latin America and the Caribbean: Partners for a Sustainable Future.” A presentation showcasing Spain’s role as a strategic partner for Latin America and the Caribbean in advancing sustainable development, fostering dialogue on financing and international cooperation.
In addition to these experiences, CAF will also join the pavilions of member countries such as Jamaica, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay, helping to build a shared regional narrative that underscores Latin America and the Caribbean’s ability to provide concrete solutions to global agendas.
