CAF and Arab Coordination Group to promote sustainable investments

Both institutions signed an agreement that gives continuity to a work started in 2022 and that focuses on enhancing the digitization of public administrations in the region. With artificial intelligence initiatives to improve educational management in Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Paraguay, the agreement provides for the preparation of a report that will have a regional scope.

In order to continue promoting a more efficient and effective educational management in Latin America, based on taking advantage of the benefits of digitization, the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and CAF - Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean - signed a specific cooperation agreement on Monday.
The signing ceremony took place this Monday in Seville, Spain, within the framework of the IV International Conference on Financing for Development of the United Nations that is taking place in the Andalusian capital, and was headed by Mariano Jabonero, Secretary General of the IEO, and Sergio Díaz-Granadosexecutive president of CAF.
The agreement lays the groundwork for the development of the second phase of the Program for the Digital Transformation of Public Education Administrations in Latin America and the Caribbean, led by both institutions. technological and management modernization of public educational administrations based on the use of artificial intelligence the use of artificial intelligence in Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Paraguay. It is also planned to prepare a regional study that will describe and summarize the lessons learned from the four initiatives, including public policy recommendations.
"The digital transformation of educational public administrations is not only a technological goal, but an essential condition to guarantee quality, equitable and efficient education in our region. This agreement with CAF represents a firm step towards this shared objective," said Mariano Jabonero during the signing ceremony.
For his part, Sergio Díaz-Granados, executive president of CAF, said that"this is an alliance that bears fruit and serves the region. We are a bank with a Latin American imprint, and the two institutions have to continue sailing together. No matter the size of the ship, we can cross the most complex oceans".
During the first phase of the program, which began in May 2022, both institutions developed roadmaps to improve the digitalization of the educational public administrations of three countries in the region: Argentina, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay. Digital transformation in educational public administrations in Latin America and the Caribbean: analysis and perspectives. Results Report, published jointly by OEI and CAF.
The report presented a first overview of tools, applications and platforms for the digital transformation of public policy management tasks and an analysis of the priority dimensions for digital transformation, areas that will be updated based on the findings of the new research that will be carried out thanks to the agreement signed this year.
