Venezuela bets on the development of its own hardware and software industry

In the past few years, public policies in Venezuela have bet on the development of its own hardware and software industry, and have been focused on promoting its own satellite industry. In addition, it is one of the few countries that at the present time shows a sustained growth in all services. 

The publication "Hacia la Digitalización de América Latina: las infraestructuras y los servicios TIC en la región" (Toward the Digitalization of Latin America: Infrastructure and ICT Services in the Region) highlights that the country shows improvement opportunities in the expansion of broadband to the population and enterprises. 

The country´s strength in the ICT sector are:

• Sustained growth in all telecommunications services 
• Good service accessibility, specially in mobile broadband 
• High development of the human capital at the higher education level.
