Winners of the Research Proposal Contest - Habitat and Urban Development

The jury, made up of representatives of CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, CEMFI, the University of New York, Princeton University, University of North Carolina, and Universidad del Rosario, selected the winning proposals based on criteria that considered relevance as public policy for Latin America, originality, and methodological rigor. 

The winners of the Concurso de Propuestas de Investigación - Hábitat y Desarrollo Urbano (Research Proposal Contest - Habitat and Urban Development) were: 

• "Social Housing Policy and Labor Market Outcomes: Experimental Evidence from Argentina", by Guillermo Cruces, María Laura Alzúa, and Julián Amendolaggine.
• "Efecto de los subsidios cruzados en servicios públicos domiciliaros sobre el mercado de vivienda en Bogotá" (Effects of crossed subsidies of household public services on the housing market in Bogota), by Juan Miguel Gallego, Carlos Eduardo Sepúlveda, and  SergiMontoya.
• "Do you really want your own house? The impact of home ownership on the labour market: a regression discontinuity design", by Pablo Navarrete and Nicolas Navarrete.
• "Slum Growth in a System of Developing World Cities", by Guillermo Alves.
• "Estimating the costs of traffic congestion in Bogota", by Gilles Duranton.

The winning proposals will receive USD 15,000 to develop them, and will be presented in an academic seminar in July.
