General Secretary
The General Secretariat of CAF - Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean is the strategic area that articulates the institutional and regional governance of the organization. Its purpose is to guarantee solid, transparent decision-making processes that are consistent with CAF's mandate, thus strengthening the bank's legitimacy, efficiency and openness to its member countries and allied stakeholders.
It coordinates the spaces where member countries discuss and agree on projects that promote regional development. It also ensures the integrity of documents and institutional traceability, and promotes standards of transparency, access to information and participation that contribute to a more modern, inclusive and reliable institutional culture.
This is an area that not only accompanies decisions, but also strengthens CAF's transforming mission in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Biography Alejandra Claros

Alejandra Claros
Alejandra Claros Borda has a degree in Legal and Political Sciences. From a very young age, she held different responsibilities in high political spheres of her country, such as Chief of Staff of the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia and National Coordinator of the National Telecommunications Company (ENTEL). Subsequently, in 2015 she joined CAF as the Secretariat Coordinator, later being in charge of the political analysis of the Institution. In December 2021, she was appointed as General Secretary, a responsibility that for the first time in the history of the Institution falls to a woman.
She has a postgraduate degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Plurinational Diplomatic Academy; a master's degree in Multidisciplinary Law from the Universidad Mayor de San Simón (Bolivia) and another in Communication and Political Marketing, that she obtained at the University of Alcalá (Spain). Likewise, she has specialties in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Technology and Political Subjectivity, both by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO).
