Possui vasta experiência no serviço público e privado, tanto nacional como internacionalmente, com ênfase especial em questões de desenvolvimento e integração regional. Antes de assumir a presidência da CAF, foi diretor executivo da Colômbia no Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento. Anteriormente, ocupou os cargos de Ministro do Comércio, Indústria e Turismo da Colômbia, Vice-Ministro de Desenvolvimento de Negócios e Presidente do Conselho de Administração do Bancóldex e ProColombia. Foi congressista e presidente da Comissão de Assuntos Econômicos da Câmara dos Deputados da Colômbia.

Likewise, Sergio Campos supervises the application of AquaRating - a platform that evaluates the performance of public water companies - and of Hydro-BID, a hydrological simulation tool that has mapped the availability of water in more than 280,000 basins throughout Latin America. and the Caribbean. Before joining the Bank, Sergio Campos led the structuring of large-scale water and sanitation infrastructure programs with sovereign guarantee and worked on structuring M&A projects in transportation, energy, water and sanitation and telecommunications, as well as projects reengineering, business consulting and microfinance. Sergio Campos is an economist with a master's degree in finance and public policy.
