At its CLXXXV Meeting, CAF's Board of Directors approved the extension of the corporate loan to the Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics of Colombia (Aerocivil), increasing the total amount of financing from USD 240 million to USD 300 million. This operation responds to Aerocivil's request to expand the scope of the strategic investments contemplated in its 2025-2030 Plan, incorporating new projects of high relevance for the country's connectivity and operational safety.
"Air connectivity is a driver of economic development and a bridge of opportunities. With this operation, CAF reaffirms its commitment to Colombia and to the transformation of Latin America's strategic infrastructure. We are financing more than airports and technology: we are investing in the future of communities that need better connections to the economic centers of the country and the world. By modernizing the air navigation system and expanding the capacity of regional airports, we are helping to reduce territorial gaps and create the conditions for thousands of Colombians to access better services, new markets and greater development opportunities," said Sergio Diaz-Granados, CAF's executive president.
The operation seeks to contribute to the strengthening of air connectivity and operational safety of the Colombian airport system by developing modern and resilient infrastructure for air navigation and airport services in strategic regions of the country. The resources will finance key actions that will improve the system's installed capacity, raise operational safety standards and promote territorial integration, facilitating the access of regional populations to essential services and national and international logistics networks.
With this investment, CAF reaffirms its commitment to the development of quality infrastructure in Latin America, helping to close connectivity gaps and improve the region's competitiveness.
