With the "Declaration of Chicó Bogotá for Positive Biodiversity in Latin America and the Caribbean: from science to action", CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean- and the regional scientific community agreed last year to unite to face the challenge of economic development in LAC by protecting its most valuable asset: its biodiversity and nature.

As a development of this commitment, a positive biodiversity agenda emerged with three pillars: the integration of science in policy formulation, the financing of projects with a positive impact on biodiversity and climate, and the strengthening of regional technical collaboration networks.

Creemos que no debemos limitarnos a explotar la naturaleza y excluir a quienes la protegen, sino aprender de ella para diseñar un futuro más verde

In addition, a scientific advisory committee was created to collaborate with governments, multilateral organizations and the private sector to generate recommendations based on scientific evidence, identify priority areas for investment in conservation, and design financial mechanisms for sustainability projects.

In addition, CAF will allocate funds to finance ecosystem restoration initiatives and promote nature-based solutions and the sustainable management of natural resources.
