New space will boost the mobilization of private capital for sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean

With the aim of expanding its presence and deepening engagement in Brazil, CAF has officially inaugurated its Private Sector Office in São Paulo. This new institutional milestone reaffirms CAF’s commitment to mobilize more private capital for sustainable development and to strengthen partnerships with key players in Brazil’s financial ecosystem.
The event was attended by Federal Government authorities, including representatives from the Ministry of Planning’s Secretariat for External Affairs, and partner financial institutions such as BADESUL, BDMG, BNB, BRDE, Banco do Brasil, Santander, and Itaú. Also present were representatives of CAF-affiliated investment funds such as Vinci Partners and Patria Investimentos.
During the event, the Vice President of the Private Sector, Antonio Silveira, and the Corporate Vice President of Strategic Planning, Christian Asinelli, led the activities alongside CAF’s Country Representative in Brazil, Estefanía Laterza, who presented the institution’s country strategy. The dialogue addressed key topics including access to long-term financing, exchange rate risk mitigation, support for SMEs, municipal public-private partnerships, microfinance, and mechanisms to broaden the capital base and diversify funding sources.
CAF’s Executive President, Sergio Díaz-Granados, closed the event by emphasizing that “the experience, sophistication, and scale of Brazil’s financial system are essential to increase the impact of our operations in Brazil and across Latin America and the Caribbean.” He also reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining ongoing dialogue with its strategic allies.
CAF recognizes the private sector as a key driver in closing social gaps, financing resilient infrastructure, and advancing climate goals in the lead-up to COP30. The opening of this office reinforces CAF’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with Brazil – a strategic partner since 1994 – in building a more inclusive, sustainable, and integrated development across the region.
