More than 4,000 children received the benefits of Musical Inclusion Programs
The Music to Grow program closed 2013 with coverage in different countries of Latin America. For 2014, it foresees the incorporation of Trinidad & Tobago.
During the first semester of this year, Trinidad & Tobago will become another beneficiary country of theMusic to Grow program, which uses orchestral and choral training as a tool for the comprehensive development and social inclusion of low income populations in Latin America.
During 2013, close to 4,400 children and youths received the benefits of the activities that were carried out, among which the first contest of youth and children orchestras of Bolivia stands out, with the participation of 19 orchestras from the country and the support of the public and private sectors, and the first joint training workshop between local and international maestros in Argentina.
The program participated in the international choral festival America Cantat carried out in Colombia, which trained 235 children and 25 choir directors in the city of Bogota. In addition, in line with the objective of strengthening the training of multipliers of musical teaching in the region, 184 Latin American facilitators received technical and methodological musical classes. Finally, as part of the dissemination and training activities, seven concerts were performed.
Since 2000, CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, promotes this program which consists of itinerant training workshops with a novel methodology that places Venezuelan musical instructors to teach children and youths of the beneficiary countries.
Future prospects include strengthening the use of joint workshops between local and international maestros, and the institutional relationship with the counterparts.
