CAF—development bank of Latin America—and the Institute of the Americas (IOA) signed an agreement to develop projects that help accelerate the energy transition and decarbonization, sustainable mobility, regional integration, the fight against climate change, sustainable urban development, trade and economic inclusion.

The agreement calls for the exchange of knowledge between both institutions, and the development of research and publications, training courses and organization of conferences, seminars, meetings, and other events, including the collaboration on a session and a field visit during the Cities Summit of the Americas.

“This agreement with the IOA will help create new cooperation ties between Latin America and the Caribbean and the United States and, thus, will help our countries develop more tools to address the great global challenges of the coming decades, including climate change, migration, urban development, energy transition and social inclusion,” said Christian Asinelli, Corporate Vice President of Strategic Programming at CAF.

“IOA looks forward to working more closely with CAF to address emerging issues and challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean dealing with energy transition, climate action, economic competitiveness, workforce development and environmental protection. Through its new agreement with CAF, IOA has identified opportunities to leverage its strategic location in California, and its proximity to technology-focused innovation centers to advance greater cross-border knowledge exchange, create professional networks, and foster investments to expand economic opportunities, improve quality of life, and promote greater biodiversity protection for communities in the Americas,” said IOA Chief Executive Officer Richard Kiy.
