CAF Mission reviews portfolio with Barbados authorities

CAF, Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean held a series of meetings with high-level authorities of the Government of Barbados and also with development partner organizations last Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 May. 

The objective of these meetings was to review the current portfolio with Barbados and explore new areas of collaboration, in keeping with CAF’s commitment to continue strengthening its presence and relationship with its shareholder countries and the Caribbean region.  In November 2022, CAF launched its Caribbean Regional Hub in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

During this mission, the CAF delegation met with Ryan R. Straughn, Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Investment; Ian Gooding-Edghill, Minister of Tourism and International Transport; Santia J. O. Bradshaw, Minister of Works, Transport and Water Resources; Adrian R. Forde, Minister of Environment and National Beautification, Green and Blue Economy; project teams from the Barbados Revenue Authority and the Barbados Water Authority. Similarly, meetings were held with the Caribbean Development Bank, the Caribbean Export Development Agency and with the United Nations Resident Coordinator and several UN agencies.

The CAF mission was led by Emilio Uquillas, Corporate Manager, Countries and Stacy Richards Kennedy, Regional Manager for the Caribbean and comprised: Bernardo Requena, Representative, Trinidad and Tobago Country Office; Andrea Otero, Senior Executive in the Infrastructure Projects Unit; Carole Lewis, Executive in the Urban Infrastructure, Water and Sanitation Division; and Nara Vargas, Principal Executive of Environment and Climate Change.

The CAF team was pleased to note the progress being made on the various projects as well as the important contribution of these investments to advancing the development priorities of Barbados and providing improved services to the citizens of Barbados.
