Migration, resilience to natural disasters, education, agriculture, gender and inclusion are some of the areas in which CAF and IAF will work to promote the development of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Inter-American Foundation (IAF) and CAF, Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, signed an agreement to carry out activities related to sustainable development in the region.

Integration of migrants in Latin America and the Caribbean, disaster resilience and natural resource management, sustainable agriculture and food security, education, business development and job skills, and social inclusion, among others, will be the topics on which both institutions will focus to generate projects and develop programs that have a positive impact on a specific country or at the regional level.

The signing of the document was led by Gabriel Felpeto, CAF's vice president for Finance, and Sara Aviel, president and CEO of the IAF. Both executives agreed that the partnership responds to the commitment to establish the best mechanisms to propel collaborative projects that improve the quality of life of people in Latin America and the Caribbean.

"At CAF we understand the importance of working closely with the philanthropic sector. With this partnership with the IAF, we will develop initiatives in critical areas for both institutions, generating positive changes in our communities and strengthening relationships with our countries," said Gabriel Felpeto, CAF's Vice President of Finance.

“This partnership with CAF will enable us to advance on our commitment to investing in the development ideas and priorities of grassroots organizations by collectively achieving greater impact,” said Sara Aviel, President & CEO of the IAF.

To this end, the two institutions agreed to explore the co-financing of joint initiatives and projects through non-reimbursable resources and/or donations; the creation of joint funds; the exchange and dissemination of information and methodologies, including technical advice; training and professional support.

This collaboration will allow CAF and the Inter-American Foundation to multiply their efforts to invest in the ideas and initiatives of Latin American and Caribbean people, marking an important step forward and demonstrating the relevance of international cooperation for the sustainable development of the region.
