CAF will gather more than 35 international experts to propose solutions to global challenges

From the economic situation to digital transformation, through Caribbean regional integration, the green agenda, and climate change, these are some of the key issues for the sustainable and inclusive development of Latin America and the Caribbean, which will be addressed at this Conference on Thursday, February 1st, in Panama, and can be followed virtually throughout the region via caf.com.

Despite the diversity of strategies and economic policies implemented in Latin America and the Caribbean to improve the quality of life of the population, the results are far from achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. In this context, a fresh perspective and innovative solutions are required to achieve a better quality of life for all. This is one of the main objectives of the CAF Latin America and the Caribbean Conference: A region of global solutions.

CAF - the development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean - will open on February 1st in Panama City, and virtually for the entire region, a space for dialogue and exchange of ideas to forge a more prosperous and inclusive future. More than 35 panelists from different countries such as Esther Duflo, 2019 Nobel Prize in Economics and president of Paris School of Economics; Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund; Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama; and Sergio Díaz-Granados, executive president of CAF; will present their vision with a proactive approach.

Michelle Muschett, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and UNDP Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean; Carlos Felipe Jaramillo, Vice President of the World Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean; Alberto Arciniega, President of Microsoft Latin America; Julieta Martínez, President of Tremendas; Josefina Montenegro, Director of the National Copper Corporation of Chile (CODELCO); Julio Castiglioni, President of Sao Paulo Metro; Dan Restrepo, Former Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs of the United States National Security Council; Sergio Londoño – Sr. Vice President of Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability of Coca-Cola LAC; and Andrés Rebolledo, Secretary-General of OLADE; will also participate as panelists at the CAF Conference.

The thematic and sectoral focuses of the Conference reflect the crucial challenges facing the region. From the economic situation to digital transformation, through Caribbean regional integration, the green agenda, and climate change, this conference will address key issues for the sustainable and inclusive development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
