During his visit to El Salvador, the Executive President of CAF met with President-elect Nayib Bukele to reinforce their strategic alliance. They signed a deal for the 'Low-Emission Urban Mobility Support Program' and a grant for water and sanitation efficiency with ANDA.

The Executive President of CAF met during his visit to the country with the President-elect of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, to strengthen the strategic alliance aimed at improving the quality of life for the population; he signed an operation related to the "Low-Emission Urban Mobility Support Program", and a non-reimbursable technical cooperation with the National Administration of Aqueducts and Sewers (ANDA) to continue promoting coverage and efficiency in water and sanitation.

CAF -the development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean- consolidates as a strategic ally for the sustainable development of El Salvador by forming a portfolio centered on three strategic axes: sustainable economic development, inclusive human development, and social and environmental resilience. This was expressed by CAF's Executive President, Sergio Díaz-Granados, to the President-elect of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, during a meeting in San Salvador.

Since El Salvador's entry into CAF in 2022, as the first country to join directly as a full member, the institution has timely provided financing and technical assistance in strategic sectors such as health, education, water and sanitation, security, and climate-resilient transport infrastructure. The meeting also discussed the interest among the parties to strengthen this strategic alliance by aligning the priorities of the new government plan and the CAF agenda to improve the quality of life of Salvadorans.

During the visit to El Salvador, the Executive President also met with the Minister of Finance, Jerson Rogelio Posada Molina, to review the progress of joint initiatives and future lines of work. At this meeting, financing for the "Low-Emission Urban Mobility Support Program" was signed, following its ratification by the Legislative Assembly in recent days.

Improving coverage and efficiency in the water and sanitation sector is one of the pillars of the strategic alliance between El Salvador and CAF, which is why the institution granted a non-reimbursable technical cooperation to the National Administration of Aqueducts and Sewers (ANDA) to develop feasibility studies for expanding sewage coverage and ANDA's treatment and to reduce pollution of water bodies. This agreement was signed by ANDA's president, Rubén Alemán, and Sergio Díaz-Granados, CAF's Executive President.

The CAF delegation, composed of Christian Asinelli, Corporate Vice President of Strategic Programming; Pablo Terrazas, Chief of Staff; Lina Mondragón, Senior Executive of the President's Office, and Oscar Avalle, representative in El Salvador; concluded their visit to the country with a meeting with the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez; to explore joint work initiatives to promote the quality and profitability of public spaces, and to enhance cultural heritage, among others.
